CANCELLATION POLICY: Workshops may be cancelled due to weather conditions, or at the discretion of the instructor. If a workshop is cancelled, we attempt to notify participants as quickly as possible. The workshop will be rescheduled if possible.

REFUND POLICY: A full workshop refund will be issued if your workshop is cancelled, or you are unable to attend the rescheduled date. Request for a refund will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

SUPPLY FEE: Materials provided by the instructor are listed in the cost on the registration form. This fee is non-refundable.

Maison Interlude House is a vital organization committed to combating gender-based violence and supporting women affected by all forms of abuse. Attendees will learn about the wide range of programs and services offered by the organization. From emergency shelter and counselling to outreach and prevention initiatives, this session will highlight how Maison Interlude empowers women and promotes safety, healing, and long-term support. Find out how you can support this organization by volunteering your time at Boutique PastElle in Alexandria.

Everyone has a story to tell. Everyone wishes their ancestor had written the “family” stories. Write It Now is structured to help you get started in preserving a bit of your life’s history for posterity. You will share the joys, the sadness, and the laughter of your fellow writers as you share experiences of growing up, of travel, of careers, of wedding and children. Best of all, you will have a wonderful gift that will be a legacy to future generations.

The photo club is for enthusiasts and those wanting to improve their digital photography skills and images.  Meetings are held to share and discuss images from a technical and artistic perspective as well as offer critiques when requested.  Weekly challenges give members the opportunity to learn and practice new skills. Occasionally we will travel to destinations with photographic interest.

Guided tour of Sunwheel Farm         Leader: Ana Valean

Join us for a tour of Sunwheel Farm where Ana will explain the varieties of flowers grown, why those specific varieties are chosen, how they are conditioned, and how and where they are sold. Please, proper attire and footwear for a farm outing, inc. sunscreen and water. There will be the opportunity for the participants to purchase pre-made flower bouquets, organic veggies, and even to cut their own flowers in the u-pick garden. Feel-Good Flower Farming  (Sunflowers)          Leader: Stephanie and Jakob Vogel

Participants will take a stroll through the sunflowers at Fields of Gold Family Farm in Monkland Ontario. You will learn about flower farming on both a small and a large scale. Jakob Vogel, the owner of the farm, will take you through his journey of becoming a flower farmer. He will also explain the lifecycle of the sunflowers. Along with beautiful blooms you will also see the flowers that are ready to be harvested and processed into birdseed and sunflower oil. You may also purchase your own bouquet of blooms to take home

Creating a Legacy Photo Collection        Leader:  Deborah Waddell

Workshop participants will explore how to turn an overwhelming photo collection into a meaningful and manageable legacy. With thousands—or even tens of thousands—of photos in your personal archive, it’s important to ask: Will your loved ones want every image? Will they recognize the people and understand the significance of the events and places captured? Without context and curation, you may be passing down confusion rather than cherished memories.

This session offers practical guidelines for organizing a Legacy Photo Collection that highlights the most significant moments and individuals, making it both engaging and accessible for future generations.  (Participants can bring a small box of photos.)

Even if you “cannot draw a straight line with a ruler,” release your inner artist by exploring. A little theory & lots of hands-on experimenting. Yvonne is a professional artist with >25 years’ experience. She’ll share tips & offer guidance, even if you’ve never touched a brush!

My Life in Kingston Penitentiary       Leader: Monika Johnson

Monika spent most of her working life as a guard in the male penitentiary system in Kingston. Most people in Canada know virtually nothing about the Canadian prison system because much of what we hear or see in the movies pertains to the American system. We are a kinder, gentler society … so come and get the real story.


Chair yoga       Leader: Denise Sukkau

Chair Yoga is a practice to instill the benefits of yoga while using an armless chair for support. Denise will provide information to you about yoga in general and answer any questions you may have about yoga or specifically “Chair Yoga”. Join her for this 2 hour session to experience for yourself how tuning in to your breath with movement and intention can bring calmness, help to improve flexibility and assist in strengthening parts of our body.

Everyone recognizes the costume of Volendam, but there are many more traditional costumes in The Netherlands. I will explain when and where the costumes originated, show you 30 pictures of different costumes and explain the various pieces. I have 3 authentic costumes to show you and try on if you like, including the wooden shoes for dancing.

Exploring the process from Design to Stage.

If you have ever wondered how many skilled people it takes to prepare all those marvelous costumes you see on a stage, this is an insight as to how it all happens.
Jan spent her career working in Theatre Costuming, as a seamstress, cutter, designer and Head of Wardrobe. She has worked in Theatre, Opera, Musicals, Circus and a splattering of Film.

You are sure to enjoy this visit with Jan.

Creating a Death Box: Pulling Your Kids Out of Their Comfort Zones    Leader: Heather McGrath

Building Immunity with Fire Cider            Leader: Edna Sinclair

Edna will share the history of apple cider vinegar and its importance in the preparation of fire cider. She will teach about the origins of fire cider, ingredients, directions, and how to take it. There will be samples of both.


Living off-Grid       Leader: Michael Mazure

When Michael and his spouse came to Apple Hill, they considered options other than Ontario Hydro to run their household. Michael will explain why and how they chose to go off-grid. If you are looking for a way to minimize your heating and cooling costs, this will be a workshop for you.

Have you ever wondered about the bewildering diversity of horseflies and deerflies that can make summers miserable? This is your chance to learn about them, about how important biting flies are around the world for livestock and human health, and the progress scientists have made in catching them with traps with the ultimate objective of developing a practical method of control. An overview, with lots of pictures, will point out the many species that you may encounter in this area at different times of the year. Wrap up will include a Q&A session and a chance to look at some pinned biting flies on a stereomicroscope.

Mahjong is an ancient Chinese game, but the version Claudia will teach you is called American Mah Jong. It is quite different from the original. The game is based on logic, skill and, of course, luck. You will have fun thinking, planning and scheming. Come, learn how to play, Be careful! Mahjong can be addictive.

Karl, a wellness professional with 12+ years in cognitive behavioural therapy and life coaching, will offer practical, easy-to-understand tools in a welcoming environment. South-East Asia Solo Adventure       Leader: Richard Daigneault

Richard will share his 2023/24 travel adventure in Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia through a rich and colourful photographic presentation. This promises to be an enjoyable travelogue through the lens of Richard’s curious soul-searching experiences across one of the most fascinating, and at times remote, part of the world.

“On October 2023, at 60 yrs old, I embarked on a solo 4.5 months backpacking trip to South-East Asia. This is an adventure that I had been waiting and hoping to undertake for 35 years, after I had spent a month in Indonesia in 1988, I fell in love with the people, culture and lifestyle of this exciting part of the world.”

The session is ideal for adults seeking to manage stress, anxiety, or low mood, as well as those supporting loved ones with depression. No prior experience is necessary—just a willingness to explore new approaches to mental health. By the end of the workshop, participants will have actionable steps to improve their emotional state and overall quality of life.

Ginette, a self-published author of a series of mystery books and a volume called “The Women of SDG and Akwesasne” will give techniques to be a successful author. She will discuss research tips and tools for writers of fiction and non-fiction: How to develop focus and select material. Where to find the information. How to avoid getting lost in the search.  You will also look at crafting compelling characters in your narrative. Of interest to beginners and future authors alike.

If you missed Mackie’s presentation for Glengarry History, now is your opportunity to catch up. Mackie has chosen 20 historical homes, 5 from each of the former Glengarry townships. The presentation will include historical as well as present day photos. All the homes are over 100 years old and include interesting historical stories.
